Learn on My Own

Learning on my own is nothing new, but it is something that I have had more energy to do lately. Maybe it is the changes in careers, changes in the seasons, or just changes in attitudes but all of a sudden I have an energy for training and learning and teaching and creating that I haven't had in some time.

The passion to teach has always been there for me but it is finally coming out in many creative ways. I have found that I love to write and use words and pictures to teach others about skills, life, or themselves.

I have created a Learn on My Own Series for kids. Books, videos and a website will soon all be part of this and the mission is to get kids to try new things, learn about new things and practice new things. If they can try maybe they will find their passion!
The first of the series is "The Kids Fishing Guide" and will help anyone learn everything they need to know to start fishing in an easy to read with lots of pictures included. It will have a website area that ties in with the book as well as video instruction to show how to do what is talked about in the book.

Lots of work, but very fun to begin to explore. What topics of interest do you want to know more about or topics kids would be interested in? The more they know the more they live!

Sunday the 9 of July and only 106 out!

I have been watching the weather this week a lot more than normal to see how things play out while on the trip. It feels like 106 right now, so a little hot out. Hopi for a little less heat for the trip.

The weather will be a huge factor for how fast we go, when we stop, when we go, and how hard we will ride. It is the first trip where the weather is really one of the main factors to keep track of.

Churchill we knew would be cold so you go with it and the trucks and trains are warm. On the cruise you just go with it as you can walk in the rain, sail in the rain, and tour in the rain, heat, cold, dry, and sun.

On Harley's going 1000 miles, the weather is a deciding factor for all that you do. If it is bad weather you sit and wait, and wait, and wait. It can be a little nerve racking, but as Mom says "it is what it is".

So pray for good weather and good driving conditions.

Remember your Parents may read this!

So, okay okay, my folks aren't that old...or so they have told me via Facebook, email and phone calls! Dad said they would take the trip no matter what and then called me his little pet name "asshole".
So, I stand corrected...they are more than capable of traveling by themselves and can ride like the best of us and really could care the less about what I or anyone else is thinking. So, there...we have been told.

I went to the Harley Store tonight and got a new pair of boots and ordered a lightweight jacket for Mom. Then went and bought some new socks, so I am set. My father told me the trick to packing and that is "use rubber bands". That's right rubber bands.

Now you mayask what rubber bands have to do with packing and for those of you don't know my father you are probably thinking "he is goofy in the head", but hear him out.

So, rubber bands and packing...you can save a lot of room if you roll your underwear and shirts up and put them in a rubber band! This is his packing method! Now I know about rolling clothes, but I had to laugh when he asked me "do you have enough rubber band"? Who knew!

Thank goodness I have saved a full baggie of rubber bands so I guess I am set! Whew, I guess I really am ready.

Traveling with others

Since I seem to be traveling more and more these days I thought I would start a blog just for this reason. I have started a number of books about my travels so what better way to get ahead of the writing then to start as the journeys begin.

In one week, July 12-19 I will be heading to Glacier National Park in Montana with my parents on Harley's. It has been a long time since they have taken a trip on bikes so when I got mine last year the planning began. It should be a great trip and of course most interesting.

For this trip my brother Steven will be meeting us out there and my sister Pam will be having fun reading about all the happenings safe in Tennessee. Every trip will be an adventure I am sure.

So, here we go!
